As CUET standardizes the entrance process, it has revolutionized the way students compete for spots at prestigious universities, paving the way for a more transparent and merit-based admissions process.

CUET acts as a single unifying platform, that is paving its way to facilitate seamless interaction between students and esteemed universities, fostering a stronger bond between aspiring scholars and their academic destinations. It will be administered online by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from May 15 to May 31, 2024. The scores obtained in this exam will hold considerable weight in the admissions processes of prestigious institutions like Delhi University, BHU, JNU, Vishwa Bharati University, Allahabad University, among others, elevating CUET's significance in shaping countless aspirants' academic trajectories.

CUET 2024 Exam Pattern

CUET 2024 consists of three distinct sections, each designed to assess a different aspect of candidates' academic abilities. Below is a detailed breakdown of the exam pattern:

Notably, there are no deductions for unanswered questions, offering candidates the liberty to strategize their attempts judiciously to optimize their scores effectively.

Understanding CUET Scoring System

Over 250 Indian universities offer undergraduate programs based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). Understanding the scoring mechanism requires understanding the CUET exam pattern, which has three main sections: Sections I, II, and III.

Section I:

This section comprises two sub-sections - IA and IB. In IA, language proficiency is assessed in 13 languages, while in IB, proficiency is assessed in an additional 20 languages. The two subsections contain 50 questions each, out of which candidates must answer 40.

Section II:

The language assessment, Section II focuses on domain-specific subjects. A candidate must answer 40 questions out of 45 or 50, depending on the particular subject.

Section III:

In the final section, Section III, there are 60 questions in total. Candidates are expected to attempt 50 questions.

Below is a breakdown of the scoring parameters for each section:

Number of Questions (to be attempted)40 questions to be attempted out of 5040/45/50 questions to be attempted out of 45/5050 Questions to be attempted out of 60
Total Marks(+5) * number of questions to be attempted(+5) * number of questions to be attempted(+5) * number of questions to be attempted

Understanding the scoring system enables candidates to devise effective strategies and strive for optimal performance in the CUET examination, thereby enhancing their prospects for admission into prestigious undergraduate programs across Indian universities.

Section-Wise Preparation

• Section I (A & B): Languages:

There are 13 languages available to candidates in this segment, including Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Odia, and English. Candidates are evaluated on their reading comprehension skills across factual, academic, and narrative contexts in this section. Aspirants are encouraged to engage in regular practice sessions to enhance their language proficiency and adeptness in comprehending varied textual formats.

• Section II:

Domain-Specific:

As all questions are aligned with the NCERT curriculum for Class 12, Section II requires thorough preparation. For success in domain-specific subjects, candidates should focus on grasping the fundamental concepts elucidated in NCERT textbooks. Through meticulous review of the prescribed syllabus and consistent practice of sample questions and mock tests, candidates can strengthen their confidence and proficiency in handling subject-specific inquiries.

• Section III: General Test:

In the General Test, candidates are assessed across diverse domains, including general knowledge, mental ability, numerical ability, logical and analytical reasoning, as well as quantitative reasoning. While the syllabus for this section may not be explicitly defined, candidates can undertake a proactive approach by cultivating a broad understanding of various topics to augment their overall knowledge base and sharpen their reasoning abilities. Candidates can significantly enhance their preparedness for the General Test by reading regularly, keeping up with current affairs, and practicing problem-solving exercises.
